Today my Callahan got his braces put on. He is pretty sore, but that is to be expected. Ortho is looking at 18 months til perfection. Cal's hand bone xray showed an estimated 6'1 for his final height. Ortho takes xray to make sure Cal won't grow right out of his braces.

My little Karrick
My little Karrick's class took a field trip to Drury Lane to see "A Christmas Carol" yesterday. He wanted to look nice so he picked out his clothes. He was so proud of his tie shirt....really thought he was fooling everyone. "I sure am looking good" he said
Karrick's teacher Ms Sliwa is the best (she had Callahan for 3rd grade and was one of only 2 teachers that "got" Callahan (understood him). Anyway, Ms Sliwa told Karrick he should tryout for Tiny Tim. Karrick was estatic! We'll see next year if he isn't too big.
I had Karrick's conference, I have mentioned before that he is very literal. Ms Sliwa is very amused by him. Karrick is in gifted math, 4th grade math and reg 3rd grade math. Well in 3rd grade math they had to estimate...the 8 year can do algebra, but dear Lord don't make him estimate. I guess he walked up to Ms Sliwa in a very serious tone asks "Can you please tell me the point of estimating, I don't see any point to it!" She replied "Well not everyone can just add numbers in their head like you, so those people may need to estimate at the grocery store what their total bill might be"
I was also told that Karrick refuses to read fiction. She will be in the library with Karrick and he always goes to non-fiction. Ms Sliwa will wave him over to the fiction section. She said Karrick just looked at her and waved her over to non-fiction while shaking his head. I love a teacher that works with your childs quirks
Ms Sliwa was amazed when I told her of Karricks struggles until 2nd grade. She found it hard to believe he was pulled out for reading help. They just switched to a new program and I guess a lot of kids are struugling with it. She said Karrick is one of the best with the new program
He is an original!

Callahan
Not much has been said about Callahan lately.
Let's see...He has passed through puberty with flying colors!
He is getting his braces on Thursday. The Ortho took xray's of his hands to see how much more he will grow....he has a little more to go. My 13 year old is measuring a 1/2 inch under 5'11 right now with a size 12 mens shoe.
Callahan scored almost perfect on his standardized Explore Test. 100% in Math Science and Rethorical Mechanics. With a 95 in Reading. Which puts him in the 99% Nationally
For once he got a glowing response from parent teacher conferences as I met with all his teachers as a group. Except for Geometry where I got a "I'd like to see Callahan study more, work harder and put some effort into it, but he earned an A for the trimester" Reallly!? If he recieved an A how much harder does he need to work? Im going to go with a "My kid is bored in your Geometry class"
The Science, Social Studies and LA teacher said they LOVE Cal...he has fantastic arguements, totally grasps all material and thensome.. Helps teach the class and his throughts are way above anyone elses. His Homeroom teacher did say "Callahan is always working hard in homeroom (last 40 min of the day) doing all his homework. He recieved straight A's...which in the past Callahan hasn't done too often. He was so bored he didn't do homework from 1st-7th grade. It was cured in 7th grade when he got a detention everyday he didn't do all assignments.; which was everyday for 2 weeks. Took about 2 weeks. He finishes it all at school. Well that shut that Geometry teacher right up. The poor guy spoke first and probably felt like a schmuck after the other teachers spoke and especially when they pulled out hin Explore test results. Callahan really enjoys school this year, he has come out of his shell and says he doesn't have a bad teacher.
Callahan is taking the SAT on Jan 26th at OPRF HS...Im interested to see how he'll do. Even though he is a genius, he still hasn't been exposed to all material a HS Junior/Senior has
My Callahan is growing into a fine young man, I can see that in the way he treats his girlfriend. We couldn't be more proud!

a sweet little boy
Today I had the honor of shooting the sweetest family. A Mom, Dad, little boy, uncle and grandma/grandpa that were in from the west coast.
How fun to capture such treasured moments

Introducing Mrs Jack Minister
I did not take any of these photos
On Thanksgiving Day my stunning niece Kristin married her Prince Jack at The Peckforton Castle outside of London. Jack is from London and they met at College in Boston. They now reside in London. We were not able to make the wedding and when I saw all the beautiful pictures I had tears in my eyes. Tears of pride and joy and tears of sadness that I wasn't there to share in my nieces special day. We are having a tent reception this summer at McGinty Farm. Karrick was asked to be the ring bearer for the wedding, but we just couldn't swing it.
We love you very much Jack and Kristin and wish you all the Happiness in the world. Kristin you make a stunning bride. The Mcginty grand kids sure do have a monopoly on looks

Thanksgiving weekend
Thanksgiving was just wonderful. My brother Jim and sister-in-law Karen out did themselves hosting the entire family for a long weekend. Karen cooked tirelessly for everyone.
It was a giant pajama party with my family. Karen cooked a vegan and traditional meal which was just outstanding.
The beauty of the cabin never gets old...one is always in awe being there
million dollar view
Lots of time watching movies, hiking, board games, pool, video football, hot tub soaks and just sitting around talking. On Friday most of us hit the quaint town of South Haven for some shopping

Family
I am packing up the teenagers, the peanut and heading north to Michigan for 4 days. Tim has to work Wednesday and Friday so he will celebrate with his mom and brothers family.
My brother Jim is hosting Thanksgiving at his cabin near St Joseph's MI. My siblings and father will all be there.
I am looking forward to just relaxing and hanging with my family. Lots of family bonding and outdoor activities will fill our days.
I am coming off a month plus world wind of movies, auditions, photo shoots, work and just the grind of have 3 boys.
Tim and I have so much to be thankful for: happy healthy kids, good solid jobs, a thriving new photography business. Great friends, family and a wonderful community. Endless future possibilities for our kids
Happy Thanksgiving to all

The eyes have it
I shoot these stunning kids last Sunday under dark skies, crazy ass wind and no power. I was a little nervous because I didn't bring a tri-pod and the wind kept blowing my camera.
I still have 3/4 of the images to go through...I find them stunning and edgy.
These kids have the most amazing eyes, a cool mixture of browns, greens and yellows, so depending on the lighting you get different color each time...so cool!
